Logbook and general servicing in Melbourne
Logbook and general servicing in Melbourne is for a car that can be serviced where it is parked. A qualified motor mechanic comes to your home or workplace and follows the schedule that is due, as far as that work is safe on site.
A logbook service follows the items due at that distance or age. A general service is the fluid, filter and safety check when you are not keeping a formal book. You see the quote first. The book is stamped only for work that was done.
Signs you might need this
- The service book, the windscreen sticker, or the odometer says a service is due.
- You have bought a used car and you want a service and a plain report of what was checked.
- Oil, a filter or a fluid is due, and you want that done in the driveway or the work car park.
- You want the service book kept in order, with a stamp that matches the visit.
- A previous service was missed and you want the next one done against the schedule.
- The car is older and you want a general service rather than a dealer logbook visit.
What we do
- You tell us the year, make and model, roughly how far it has travelled, and whether you want the next logbook service or a general service.
- We call during business hours with a figure, or we tell you if part of the schedule cannot be done without a workshop.
- We arrive at your home or workplace. The car needs level ground and room to open the bonnet and work around it.
- We follow the items due: oil and filter when they are due, other filters and fluids the schedule calls for, and the safety items we can see with the car on its wheels.
- We note anything we could not do because it needs a hoist.
- We stamp the service book for the work completed. We do not stamp items we did not do.
- Any extra repair we noticed is a separate quote. It is not added to the service unless you approve it.
What's included
What is included depends on the car and which service is due. A scheduled visit usually covers engine oil and the oil filter when due, air and cabin filters when due, fluid levels, and safety items we can inspect without lifting the car. For a logbook service, the book is the schedule.
A general service is agreed before we start, for cars that are not on a formal logbook. If a fluid has to match the manufacturer’s specification, we say so in the quote and we do not change that specification without telling you.
If a new-car warranty matters to you, read the warranty document before the visit. Australian Consumer Law includes guarantees for goods and services. ACCC guidance is that an independent repairer does not, by itself, end those guarantees when the work is done with due care and skill. That is not legal advice, and the warranty document may set its own conditions.
What we can do at your place, and what may need a workshop
Some logbook items need a hoist, including underside inspections and brake measurements we cannot do safely with the car on the ground. We tell you which lines we can complete in the driveway and which we cannot.
A service is not a repair of a separate fault. A leak, a worn component or a warning light is pointed out and quoted separately.
We cannot service a car on a steep driveway, in a live traffic lane, or in a car park that forbids the work. Wheel alignment and major engine or transmission work are not part of a mobile service.
How the quote works
Tell us the vehicle, the kilometres if you know them, and whether you want the next logbook service or a general service. We call during business hours with a figure. There is no price on this page.
Hours are Monday to Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday 8:00am to 2:00pm, Sunday closed. Suburb, bookings and parts affect when we can come.
No work starts until you approve the quote. Estimates are non-binding. Goods and services come with guarantees under Australian Consumer Law. If an item is workshop-only, we say so rather than stamping work we did not do.
What to have ready
- Year, make and model, and the odometer reading if you can read it.
- The service book, or the last invoice, so we can see what is due.
- Whether you want a logbook service or a general service.
- Where the car will be parked, and any workplace permission or time limit.
- A phone number we can call during business hours.
