How it works

Three steps from the first message to work on the car.

  1. 1

    Tell us what you need

Request a free quote or call. Share the suburb, the vehicle and what is going on with the car.

  2. 2

We quote, then come to you

We call with a quote during business hours. If you approve it, we come to your home or workplace.

  3. 3

    Work starts after you approve

No repair begins until you say yes. Jobs that can be done on site are finished there.

How a mobile mechanic works

A mobile mechanic comes to the car instead of you dropping it at a workshop. You tell us what is going on, we confirm a time that we can actually meet, and a qualified technician arrives at your home or workplace with tools and common parts. If the job can be done safely on level ground, it is done there. You keep the keys, and you are not left waiting for a lift home.

That is the whole point of Inhouse Mechanic. The car stays where it already is — driveway, street (where it is legal to work), or a work car park that allows it. We look at the vehicle, explain what we found, and only start a repair once you have approved the quote.

What we fix at your home or workplace

The jobs that travel well are diagnostics, logbook and general servicing, battery testing and replacement, and many common repairs — brakes, belts, hoses, cooling and charging system work, and similar tasks that do not need a hoist. A check-engine light can be scanned on site. A flat battery can be tested and replaced if that is the fault. A scheduled service can be done while you are at your desk.

Not every job belongs in a driveway. Anything that needs a hoist, a wheel alignment rack, major internal engine or transmission work, or that is simply unsafe roadside, has to go to a workshop. We will say so before you spend money on a visit that cannot finish the job.

How quotes work

Use the quote form or call 0415 751 559. Give us the suburb, the vehicle, and what you are seeing. Where the job is straightforward we can talk through a figure before we roll out. If the car needs diagnosis first, we quote that step, then quote the repair once we know what is wrong. The form is a request for a quote, not a confirmed booking and not a price on the website.

No repair starts until you approve it. If parts have to be sourced, we tell you. If the suburb or the access will not work, we will say so too. Availability depends on the day's work, your location and parts — we confirm a realistic window instead of promising a time we cannot keep.

Service area

We come to Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. There is no suburb list on this site yet, so put yours on the form and we will confirm. If we cannot reach you, we will say so rather than taking the job and cancelling later.

Why people choose mobile servicing

People ask for a mobile mechanic because they cannot spare a day without the car, because the vehicle will not start, or because a workplace visit is simpler than a workshop drop-off. The trade-off is honest: we can do a lot on site, and we will not pretend we can do everything. If you want a quote, scroll to the form. If the car is off the road now, call.
